The Empty Chair Club: Honoring Victims of Traffic Violence
In 2023, 4,142 people were killed in traffic crashes in California. Those left behind by traffic violence find themselves, unwillingly, among the Empty Chair Club. The holidays can be especially painful after a loved one has passed, particularly due to traffic violence. We invite you to raise awareness about the impact traffic violence has on friends, families, and communities every day—and to honor the memory of those killed in crashes. Help us remember loved ones and act to support safer streets so this club stops growing.
